Montclair Store Closing After 70 Years, Will Hold Huge Furniture Sale

Montclair will bid farewell to one of its oldest-running businesses when Hampton House Furniture closes.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair will bid farewell to one of its oldest-running businesses next week when the Fisch family and the staff of Hampton House Furniture on Bloomfield Avenue holds its final sales event.

The local business, which has been operating in Montclair since 1947, will hold a “selling out to the bare walls” sale from Friday, June 9 to Monday, June 12, according to its website.

Hampton House’s owners provided the following statement about the closing:

“After 70 years, we have decided to retire from business and will be closing our store… Our store is now closed to mark down prices on our entire selection of furniture and accessories.”

Ron Fisch, whose father Carl founded the store, told NorthJersey.com that he and his wife are getting out of the business because "now is the right time” and to spend more time with their daughters.

The closing sale will include home furnishings from manufacturers such as Century, Hickory Chair, Vanguard, Henredon, Lexington, Stanley and Shifman Mattresses, the website states.

The sale will take place on the following days:

  • June 9 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • June 10 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • June 11 – 1 to 5 p.m.
  • June 12 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
