In Montclair: Street Fight, Fire at Falafal Hut, Gas Station Employee Struck, Garage Burglaries, Dryer Fire

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Montclair police blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

6-23-2015 (Pine Street) - Isaiah Boatwright, 25yoa from Montclair, was arrested on open warrants out of Montclair ($1658), and Teaneck ($225).

6-23-2015 (CVS, Bloomfield Avenue) - Gary Bennett, 54yoa from Montclair, was arrested for shoplifting.

6-23-2015 (Orange Road) - Burglary to a residential garage. Two bicycles were stolen in this incident. The garage was unlocked.

6-23-2015 (Gardiner Place) - Burglary to a residential garage. Two bicycles were stolen in this incident. Entry was gained through an unlocked window. The suspect is described as a black male, early 20’s, wearing a blue baseball cap.

6-23-2015 (Forest Street) - Theft from a motor vehicle. A wallet, iPhone, and $100 cash were taken. The rear window of the vehicle was removed to gain access.

6-23-2015 (Walnut Place) - Theft of a bicycle that was chained to a cement pole in front of the residence.

6-24-2015 (Exxon, Bloomfield Avenue) - William Estelle, 21yoa from Montclair, was arrested for robbery and hindering. While in the commission of a shoplifting, Estelle struck the store employee. He then provided false information to arresting officers.

6-25-2015 (Falafel Hut, Bellevue Avenue) - Fire on a stove caused a heavy smoke condition. An empty pot had melted and set on fire. MFD responded and handled the scene. Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

6-25-2015 (North Willow Street) - A parked vehicle was vandalized. The owner discovered the vehicle to have a cracked windshield and dented hood.

6-26-2015 (Elm Street) - Two bicycles were stolen from the rear yard of a home.

6-26-2015 (Chester Road) - Attempted theft from a motor vehicle. The contents of the glove box were found scattered around the vehicle. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

6-26-2015 (Glen Ridge Avenue) - Maimah Muhammad, 22yoa from East Orange, was arrested for an open warrant out of Clifton ($2,500).

6-26-2015 (Maple Avenue) - Brandon Williams, 20yoa from Montclair, was arrested on an open warrant out of Glen Ridge.

6-26-2015 (Elmwood Avenue) - Officers responded to a large altercation in the street. Justin Davis, 19yoa from Montclair, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest.

6-27-2015 (Mission Street) - Shaun Brown, 24yoa from Montclair, was arrested on a no bail warrant from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office. He was also found to have open warrants out of Montclair ($264) and East Orange ($500). He was also found to be in possession of a folding knife at the time of his arrest and charged accordingly.

6-27-2015 (Beverly Road) - Dryer fire in the basement of a residence. MFD responded and extinguished the blaze. There was smoke and water damage to the basement. No injuries reported. The home was evacuated prior to our arrival.

6-27-2015 (Elm Street) - Burglary to a residential garage. A bicycle was stolen in this incident. The garage was left unlocked.
