Montclair Summer Event: ‘Barbie’ Screening, Outdoor Marketplace

Montclair Center is thrilled to announce the official kick-off to summer with a vibrant outdoor shopping experience scheduled for Sunday, June 23 from 1 to 6 p.m. All are invited to join in the excitement as downtown businesses open their doors and spill out onto the sidewalks for an unforgettable day of festivities. The theme is Summer Holiday! Check out all the activities on the convenient digital guide.

Buskers will fill the streets of downtown with a diverse range of music, from jazz to contemporary, entertaining attendees while they shop, dine, and explore.

Giant 8-foot-long murals offer families coloring adventures. Coloring materials will be provided. These soon-to-be masterpieces can be found outside Fleet Feet at 603 Bloomfield Avenue, Park Street South near Church Street, and Kreme & Krumb at 147 Bloomfield Avenue.

Finally, as the sun begins to set, a free outdoor screening of “Barbie,” directed by Greta Gerwig will take place on Lackawanna Plaza near Crane Park presented by Montclair Film. Participants are encouraged to come early and grab a bite from nearby Minia’s or a drink from Pineapple Express. The venue opens at 7 p.m. and the film begins at sundown. Bring your lawn chairs, and come dressed as your favorite Barbie, Ken, or Allan.

Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere filled with entertainment and opportunities to explore everything that makes downtown Montclair special. Whether discovering unique shops, savoring delicious cuisine, or enjoying live performances, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
