Montclair Teacher Remembered, Nonprofit Carries On His Work: Michael Aymar

Michael Aymar was a "master teacher that created a unique bond with each of his students."

Montclair, NJ – He was a master teacher that created a unique bond with each of his students.

Now, with the launch of the Michael Aymar Foundation, the recently deceased educator will continue to inspire and affect Montclair’s students.

A Jersey City native, Aymar was a former teacher at Lacordaire Academy in Montclair and taught for the Archdiocese of Newark for over 20 years, also working at St. Anthony's School in Union City.

He passed away in January.

The nonprofit started in his name aims to “honor Aymar’s spirit, share his passion for learning with other students and help those families that are committed to providing their children with the best education via Catholic Schools,” according to its website.

The nonprofit provides financial and instructional support for Catholic school students in grades 5-8.

“He lit a fire in his students, and the best monument to him is to keep passing that flame onward,” the nonprofit’s website states. “As he might put it, ‘Look on my works, ye mighty, and smile.’”
