Montclair Teen Swimmer With Autism Competes Nationally

The activity may help reduce autistic behavior, report says.

Can swimming help reduce the symptoms of autism?

That’s what a recent CBS News segment proposed when they featured Montclair teen Charles Cobbertt, an elite swimmer who competes against counterparts without disabilities.

The activity of swimming may help the 17-year-old Cobbertt - who currently trains with the YMCA of Montclair Dolphins swim team – to manage his autistic behavior, CBS stated.

Cobbertt is currently training for the YMCA Long Course Nationals, which occur in early August.
