UPDATED: Montclair Teenager Struck By Car On Grove Street
And a Bloomfield man was hospitalized after being hit by a car Tuesday

A Montclair teenaged girl was struck by a car while trying to cross Grove Street near the intersection with Oxford Street last week, according to The Montclair Times.
The paper reported Tuesday that the girl, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital with a broken pelvis and a broken vertebra in her spine after being hit by a Dodge sport-utility vehicle at about 7:43 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16.

She remained in the hospital for five days before being released.
The paper also reported that the 76-year-old Montclair man who struck her was given a ticket for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, a violation of the law.

The man—who apparently was not speeding—told law enforcement officials that he didn't see the girl as she tried crossing toward the Grove Street business area from the southwest corner of Grove and Oxford streets.
The incident is just one in a string of cases involving pedestrians being hit by cars.
On Tuesday at about 6:20 p.m., a Bloomfield resident was hit by a car, according to the Bloomfield Police Department.
The 47-year-old man was struck on Mountain Avenue near Broad Street, said Captain Joe Pulido at the Bloomfield Police Department. The victim was transported to the trauma unit at University Hospital in Newark, where he was listed in stable condition as of noon Wednesday.
The driver of the car is also a Bloomfield resident, but it is not known if any summonses will be issued. The investigation is open at this time.
In October, a pedestrian was struck by a car on Bloomfield Avenue at Columbus Street in Bloomfield, according to police. A witness said the car that struck the man was a Cadillac Escalade, which fled from the scene.
That incident occurred less than a week after a hit-and-run incident killed a 49-year-old Montclair resident named Douglas M. Williams on Upper Mountain Avenue.
Last spring, several Mount Hebron Middle School parents talked about forming parent patrols to keep an eye on wandering students every Friday after a woman was struck and killed by a van on Bellevue Avenue in Upper Montclair. But, so far, parent patrols have yet to be formed.
