Montclair Teens Interrupt ‘Game Night’ With Firecrackers: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A “game night” at the recently reopened Catchings Owens Community Suite next to Glenfield Middle School was interrupted by a group of mask-wearing juveniles with fireworks last week, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the juveniles entered the building on July 5 and threw firecrackers. They then fled south on Maple Avenue.

Police said there were six youths present, including two female suspects. The gender identities of the other juveniles weren’t available in an initial police statement.

The floor and walls of the building sustained “moderate damage,” police said.
