Montclair Town Hall On Legal Marijuana’s Effects: ‘Pros And Cons’

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A town hall discussion on legal recreational marijuana and its possible effects on Montclair will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

The public meeting – hosted by Montclair 4th Ward Councilwoman Renee Baskerville – is slated for 7 to 9 p.m. in the Municipal Council Chamber, 205 Claremont Avenue. It will include a discussion on “the pros and cons of legalizing recreational marijuana use and sales in the township and the state.”

According to a municipal news release, issues to be discussed include legalized marijuana’s effects on:

• Economy
• Education
• Crime
• Health
• The judicial system
• The workforce

Participants at the public forum will include:

• New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver
• Montclair Mayor Robert Jackson
• New Jersey Senator Nia Gill
• New Jersey Senator Ronald Rice
• New Jersey Assemblyman Thomas Giblin
• Essex County Freeholder President Brendan Gill
• Montclair Municipal Prosecutor Joseph Angelo
• New Jersey Medical Association President Cynthia Paige
