MONTCLAIR, NJ — Town officials are holding a free swim in Montclair on Monday to help local residents beat the temperatures in the midst of a sweltering heat wave.

On Monday, July 2 at 11:32 a.m., Montclair officials announced that due to “extreme temperatures and humidity,” the municipality is providing pool admission free of cost to all Montclair residents for the day. In addition, pool hours will be extended; residents can gain entry to Essex, Nishuane and Mountainside pools from 1 to 8:30 p.m. on July 2.

Residents who do not have pool badges will need to show proof of residency to access the pools. Out-of-town guests of residents will be charged the daily rate, officials said.
