Montclair Urban Explorer Takes His ‘Greenway’ Tour On The Road

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Want to know what it’s like to explore a soon-to-disappear urban landscape in North Jersey? You’re not the only one, apparently.
Silver Stream Studio in Montclair will host a series of events with author and local resident Wheeler Antabanez next week to mark the release of his latest book, “Walking the Old Boonton Line: A Photographic Journey on the Abandoned Rails of New Jersey.”
Last year, Antabanez took a last walk on the abandoned Erie tracks before they were ripped up in preparation for the Essex-Hudson Greenway, a massive hiking and biking path that will run through Jersey City, Secaucus, Kearny, Newark, Belleville, Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and Montclair.

The drone images and video that Antabanez captured on his hike from Montclair to Jersey City resulted in a movie about his epic local adventure, as well as a book, “Walking the Old Boonton Line,” which was released in October 2022.
Antabanez plans to recreate his journey with a narrated video presentation at Silver Stream Studio at 594 Valley Road in Montclair. There will be three shows from March 23 to March 25; all three are sold out. Learn more here.
