Montclair Vehicle Crimes Reported: Slashed Tires, Stolen Cars

Several motor vehicle-related crimes were reported in Montclair, including slashed tires and stolen cars, police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several motor vehicle-related crimes were reported in Montclair last week, including slashed tires and stolen cars, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township.

July 13 (Lackawanna Plaza) - The owner of a 2018 Chevy pickup reported that on three separate occasions, all four of the tires on his vehicle were slashed while parked on Lackawanna Plaza. The tires were valued at approximately $255 each.

July 15 (Franklin Place) – A resident reported that while sitting in his living room, he saw an unknown male attempting to gain access into his 2021 BMW X3. The resident ran outside, and the suspect retreated to an awaiting GMC SUV. The GMC fled east on Washington Avenue into Glen Ridge. The suspect was described as a thin male about 6 feet, wearing a ski mask and a white shirt.

July 17 (Woodmont Road) - A 2019 Range Rover was stolen from a driveway on Woodmont Road. The family had just returned from vacation and the vehicle contained about $20,000 in luggage, clothing and electronics. The Range Rover was recovered later in the day, abandoned in East Orange.

July 18 (Enfield Road) - A resident reported that his 2016 Land Rover was stolen from his driveway. The vehicle was left running while items were being carried into the house. It was recovered abandoned in Newark the morning of July 19.
