Montclair's Only Vegan-Friendly Jamaican Restaurant Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary

The Montclair eatery specializes in "vegan-friendly" Jamaican staples.

Montclair, NJ – Happy one-year anniversary, Vital.

Montclair’s only family-owned Jamaican restaurant recently celebrated its 365th day in business, according to a release.

The restaurant, which specializes in vegan-friendly cuisine, aims to “provide a new take on traditional Jamaican staples” such as escovitched fish, braised oxtail and curry goat, according to its owners.

One of the restaurant’s biggest success secrets? Executive Chef Kwame Williams.

According to a release, Williams was classically trained at The Institute of Culinary Education, has more than 13 years of cooking experience, and has worked at award-winning restaurants such as the Ryland Inn, The Bernards Inn, Pleasantdale Chateau, Highlawn Pavillion and Minton’s in New York City.

Vital, located at 387 Bloomfield Avenue, offers lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Brunch is served on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For reservations or more information, visit www.vitaldining.com or call 973-655-9500.
