Looking for a way to celebrate Mother’s Day in Montclair for 2015? Try one of the following local events.

COMEDY SHOW

On Thursday, May 7, at 8 p.m., Just Jakes, 30 Park St., will host “The Non-Productive.com Comedy Show,” a live stand-up comedy and variety showcase that takes place the first Thursday of every month, and which features professional comedians from across the Tri-State area.

The theme for the show is “Mothers.” All mothers will be offered a free ticket with each full admission purchased.

Admission is $5 and will feature drink and food specials.

OUTDOOR CONCERT AT VAN VLECK GARDENS

On Sunday, May 10, at 1 p.m., Van Vleck House and Gardens, 21 Van Vleck St., will host a free, outdoor Mother’s Day concert.

The event will feature a brass quintet performance from the new Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Visitors are invited to bring a picnic lunch.

The concert is weather-permitting.

LUNCH AND JAZZ AT PRESBY IRIS GARDENS

On Sunday, May 10, Presby Memorial Iris Gardens, 474 Upper Mountain Ave., will host a free jazz concert and a ticketed box lunch.

The event will feature a free jazz concert with performances by the Bob Miller and Joe Verrusio Jazz Duo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Duke Lukic Trio from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will also feature a $20 box lunch with a gourmet sandwich (vegetarian, turkey, Italian), lemon square dessert, gourmet chips and a choice of drink. Lunch will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online, or via phone at 973-783-5974.

The Bloom Room Gift Shop and Plant Sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chairs on the lawn will be available, and visitors may also bring a picnic blanket if they prefer.
