Mountainside Hospital: Highly Reliable Rounding Is Working
The Montclair hospital says that a new initiative is helping to boost patient satisfaction rates and increasing teamwork among staff.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair says that a recently launched initiative called “Highly Reliable Rounding” (HRR) is helping to boost patient satisfaction rates and teamwork among its staff.
A hospital spokesperson told Patch that HRR is basically “everyone working together to ensure patient safety and best practices are implemented as a team, not individual nurses, physicians and so forth visiting a patient and doing their own thing so to speak.”
When Hackensack Meridian first implemented the program in 2016, patient satisfaction rates were at 83 percent for those who received HRR. However, last month, the hospital announced that in early 2018, patient satisfaction rates have risen to 90 percent, “a significant increase in a short period of time.”
