MPL Announces Spring 2016 "With the Author" Book Talks

Montclair Public Library will host three author events this spring as part of its With the Author series.

Montclair Public Library will host three author events this spring as part of its With the Author series. The series, presented in partnership with Watchung Booksellers, promotes local authors with the intent of fostering a love of reading and a love of literature.

Below is the list of upcoming book talks:

Wednesday, March 9 at 7pm at the Main Library
Massaging the Mindset: An Intelligent Approach to Systemic Change in Education by Dr. Felicia Nace
Dr. Nace will explore what true systemic change looks like in schools. Parents, community members and educators will come to understand the dynamics of their roles in the change process. Dr. Nace is a former Montclair Public Schools teacher. She taught 4th grade Language Arts at Watchung Elementary School in the late 1990s.

Thursday, April 14 at 7pm at the Main Library
Why We Are Wired to Worry and How Neuroscience Will Help You Fix It by Sharie Spironhi
Your brain is programed to believe that impending doom is around every corner due to an outdated evolutionary trait. Spironhi breaks this down in a manner so you understand how you can finally get off the Worry-Go-Round.™ Spironhi is a public speaker, educator, counselor, trainer, author, who has been teaching people about human behavior since 1986.

Wednesday, May 18 at 7pm at the Main Library
Encountering the Edge: What People Told Me Before They Died by Karen B. Kaplan
Chaplain Kaplan will give you a fly-on-the-wall view of what patients and hospice staff shared with her during her seven years as a hospice chaplain. Free of religious agendas, she will talk about what hospice is and what it is not. When Kaplan was ordained in 1992, she became one of the first 200 female rabbis worldwide and earned board certification as a healthcare chaplain in 2007.
