Murphy Sisters Lead MKA Girls Lacrosse

Montclair residents and senior twin sisters Shea and Maggie Murphy are tri-captains and top players for the Montclair Kimberley Academy girls lacrosse team which entered recent action with a 6-4 record, including a 2-2 mark in the very competitive N.J. Girls Lacrosse League Stars & Stripes Division.

The Cougars roared past neighboring Verona 14-4 on Friday, April 24, following a tough week with narrow setbacks against state-ranked powers Kent Place (9-7, April 23) and Oak Knoll (8-6, April 20).

MKA was a runner-up to Glen Ridge (6-5 score) in the 2025 Essex County Tournament final and those two teams will be favored once again to return to the ECT final set for 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 9, at Livingston High School.

Shea Murphy has been a force on attack with 23 goals and 14 assists through the first 10 games this spring while Maggie contributes 12 goals and 4 assists.

The Murphys are 4-year starters for the MKA laxladies who captured NJSIAA Non-Public B state championships in both 2023 and 2024 with the Murphys helping to lead the way.
