N.J. Bakery’s Poopy Pastry Gets Grins After Grim Presidential Election

A Montclair bakery created the "Everybody Poops" doughnut to get some laughs during a stressful election season.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A New Jersey bakery has figured out the recipe for a good laugh: buttermilk chocolate cake, a marshmallow center and rich chocolate ganache.

That’s the formula behind the “Everybody Poops,” the hilarious and tasty bakery brainchild of the Montclair Bread Co.’s owner and head baker Rachel Crampsey.

Crampsey - a Culinary Institute of America graduate and former employee at Bread Alone, Tribeca Oven and Amy’s Bread - told Patch that the poopy pastry was born when the bakery’s staff noticed that the election season was beginning to stress out their customers.

“We wanted to give them something to laugh about and what's funnier than poop?” Crampsey explained.

The Montclair-based bakery offered the Everybody Poops for sale on Wednesday following Republican candidate Donald Trump’s stunning defeat of Democrat challenger Hillary Clinton.

Although the doughnut has gotten “lots of positive feedback” from customers, Crampsey said that the Everybody Poops will only be on sale Wednesday “until the joke’s over,” although it may be around for a while longer if people really want to come in and try one.

The Everybody Poops hasn’t been the New Jersey bakery’s only unusual creation. Some of the eatery’s recent doughnut offerings have included “Banoffee,” “Sweet Potato Casserole” and “Maple Bacon.”
