New Jersey Police Dept. Has First Female Detective In 109-Year History

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — For the first time in its 109-year history, the Cedar Grove Police Department has a female detective.

The Cedar Grove Police Department recently announced that Carolyn Zajack – who became the New Jersey town’s first female police officer when she was hired in 2004 – has made history yet again as its first female detective.

According to the CGPD, which lists multiple female staff members on its roster, the hard-working Zajack is also the department’s school resource officer, crime prevention officer and LEAD instructor to 5th grade students in Cedar Grove.
