New Mural Project In Montclair Is Seeking Artists, Stipends Available
Creators are needed in Montclair to transform the entire façade of a building on Bloomfield Avenue into a "captivating work of art."

The Montclair Center Business Improvement District (BID) recently announced the launch of the 2024 ArtConnects Mural Project, a collaborative effort aimed at beautifying and enlivening the vibrant streets of Montclair. As part of this initiative, an open call to artists is now underway for a monumental mural project that will adorn the entire facade of 393 Bloomfield Avenue, the home of Pilgrim Medical Center.
This ambitious project seeks to transform the exterior of 393 Bloomfield Ave into a captivating work of art that reflects the spirit, diversity, and creativity of Montclair. The chosen mural will serve as a dynamic centerpiece, enhancing the visual landscape of the neighborhood and fostering a sense of community pride.

"We are thrilled to launch the ArtConnects 2024 Mural Project in collaboration with Pilgrim Medical Center," said Jason Gleason, Executive Director of the Montclair Center BID. "This initiative represents a unique opportunity for artists to leave their mark on our town, while also celebrating the cultural richness of Montclair."
The open call invites artists of all backgrounds and disciplines to submit proposals for the mural project. Submissions should reflect the themes of unity, inclusivity, and the vibrancy of Montclair's artistic community. The selected artist will receive a stipend and the opportunity to collaborate with local stakeholders throughout the mural's creation process.

Interested artists are encouraged to visit publicartist.org for detailed submission guidelines and application instructions. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on June 12, 2024, with the selected artist expected to be announced shortly thereafter.
