New Stop Sign Approved For Busy Montclair Intersection

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A traffic change is coming to a busy intersection in Montclair, with another potential safety upgrade officially on the table.

The Montclair Town Council voted to approve Ordinance O-23-10 on final reading during their meeting on Monday. The vote paves the way to install a stop sign for traffic traveling westbound on Inwood Avenue at the intersection of Inwood Avenue and Fernwood Avenue.

Meanwhile, the council voted in favor of Ordinance O-23-13 on first reading. If it passes a second vote, the ordinance would designate Franklin Avenue and Virginia Avenue as a “multi-way stop intersection.”

The ordinances discussed Monday aren’t the only traffic-related moves the council has made in the recent past. In February, the town council approved a four-way stop at Claremont Avenue and Forest Street.
