  • The old saying that “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is still true today. Did you know that when you visit your doctor and radiologist as well as your dentist, gynecologist, etc. on a regular basis annually you will be much more likely to catch a health issue well before it becomes deadly? Having regular checkups, mammograms, and other health checks will help you live a healthier, longer life. Here at Montclair Radiology, we invite you to call today to book your next mammogram or other imaging need, since early diagnosis can save your life.
  • Starting at age 40 (or younger if you have a family history of breast cancer) women should have their mammogram annually.
  • At the age of 60, you can get a referral for a bone density test to screen for osteoporosis, the bone condition that can cause fragile, brittle bones.

2. Be Proactive About Your Health

  • Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women? This disease impacts everyone, and causes about 610,000 deaths annually in the United States, which equals 1 in every 4 deaths. The Center for Disease Control reports “Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease, killing over 370,000 people annually. Every year about 735,000 Americans have a heart attack. Of these, 525,000 are a first heart attack and 210,000 happen in people who have already had a heart attack.”
  • Living a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise, including a diet filled with vegetables, fruits, and healthy grains, is a wonderful way to keep yourself on the right track to health. However, often times, family history or undiagnosed conditions may be impacting your heart health. Today, with modern technology leading the way, you can get a referral from your doctor and visit us to have a Calcium Scoring scan, which is a pain-free, non-invasive low dose radiation imaging test that can show our doctors the state of your heart. This test will calculate your risk of developing Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) by measuring the amount of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries.
