Mejia, Hathaway Will Have Rematch In NJ-11: AP Declares Primary Election Winners
U.S. Rep. Analilia Mejia faced a challenge from Joseph Lewis, Donald Cresitello and Justin Strickland in the Democratic race.

The stage is set for a November showdown in New Jersey’s 11th congressional district, with a rematch coming between Analilia Mejia and Joe Hathaway, according to the Associated Press.
Voters went to the polls on Tuesday for the 2026 primary election, with a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives at stake. The district includes several towns in Essex, Morris and Passaic counties (see list below).

U.S. Rep. Analilia Mejia recently won a special election to fill the remainder of Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s unexpired term. She faced a challenge in the Democratic race from Joseph Lewis, Donald Cresitello and Justin Strickland.
Joe Hathaway ran against Mejia in the special election. He was the only candidate on the ballot in the Republican primary.

The Associated Press called the Democratic race for Mejia at 8:14 p.m. Here are the uncertified results with 26 percent of votes counted:
- Analilia Mejia– 14,015 votes (83.2%)
- Joseph Lewis – 882 votes (5.2%)
- Donald Cresitello – 995 votes (5.9%)
- Justin Strickland – 945 votes (5.6%)
Democratic and Republican candidates competed for their party’s nomination in the primary election. The winners will match up against any independent or third-party candidates in a general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Morris County – Boonton, Boonton Township, Butler, Chatham, Chatham Township, Denville, Dover, East Hanover, Florham Park, Hanover, Harding, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Madison, Mendham Twp (part), Montville, Morris Plains, Morris Township, Morristown Town, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Pequannock, Randolph, Riverdale, Rockaway, Rockaway Township, Victory Gardens
Passaic County – Little Falls, Totowa, Wayne (part), Woodland Park
