NJ Infant, Grandfather Killed By Falling Tree In Verona Backyard: PD

VERONA, NJ — An uprooted tree fell on a New Jersey resident and his infant grandson in their backyard on Monday evening in Verona, killing them both and leaving the community in mourning, authorities said.

Emergency responders arrived at a home on West Lincoln Street at 7:04 p.m. after getting a call about a fallen tree that struck two people, according to Verona Police Chief Christopher Kiernan.

The 61-year-old man and his 6-month-old grandson both died from their injuries, authorities said.
