NJ Nonprofit To Hold Free Food Giveaway In Montclair

People can walk up and grab a pre-packaged food bundle, or they can hop on the mobile market truck and "shop" for what they want.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Embrace Relief, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Fairfield, will hold a free food distribution event using their mobile market truck on Monday, Aug. 9 in Montclair.

According to a municipal advisory, the event will take place outside of the Wally Choice Community Center, 49 Maple Avenue. The food distribution start time is 10 a.m.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge. Anyone interested can walk up and grab a pre-packaged food pack, or they can hop on the mobile market truck and “shop” for what they want, organizers said.

All market products are free of charge and individuals/families will receive reusable bags to “shop” with and take home. There is a limit of one food package per family, Montclair officials stated.

  • 1 USDA inspected and approved frozen meat package
  • 4 boxes of Pasta
  • 3 cans of Green Beans
  • 3 cans of Corn
  • 3 cans of Tuna
  • 2 cans of Chickpeas
  • 2 cans of Kidney Beans
  • 6-cookie sleeve of Oreos
  • 5 juice boxes
  • 1 case of juice (12 bottles)
  • 1 bottle of Ketchup
  • 1 bottle of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 bottle of Honey
  • 6 travel-size bottles of Hand Sanitizer
  • 7 packs of Antibacterial Wipes

The event is supported by the Embrace Relief Foundation, Peace Islands Institute, Assemblywoman Britnee Timberlake, the Montclair Department of Health and Human Services, and Harvest Trolley.
