Note Left For Montclair Business: ‘What Nazi Germany Looks Like'

A note left on the door of a Montclair business read: "This is what Nazi Germany looks like in 2020 Amerika. Are you proud?"

MONTCLAIR, NJ — “This is what Nazi Germany looks like in 2020 Amerika. Are you proud?” According to police, this was the note that a Montclair business owner on Bloomfield found on her front door on Friday.

What the message means, however, is unclear, authorities say.

“It’s unknown if the note intended to target the victim due to her faith or if it was a general political statement regarding unrest in society,” Montclair police stated.

It isn't the first politically charged message involving fascism or “neo-Nazism” that Montclair police have found themselves investigating in recent months.

In June, amid peaceful rallies on police brutality in the wake of George Floyd’s death, anti-police graffiti with messages such as “Cops R Murderers,” “F*** Pigs” and “Fascism” was spotted throughout the township.

In May, a witness said they found three stickers posted to light poles in Porter Park. The stickers read "One Nation Against Invasion," and promoted Patriot Front, a white nationalist organization that has been labeled as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In March, a witness found a "neo-Nazi" sticker that read "NJEHA.com Take Back Your Country" posted on the schedule board at the Mountain Avenue Train Station. The sticker promoted the same group that was seen on flyers around downtown Bloomfield last year.
