Organization Serving Cancer Patients Launches New Website, Accelerating Access to Diverse Supportive Programs

The Preston Young Cancers Awareness – I AM YOU, Inc. Nonprofit Org. Offers Broad Range of Supportive Services for Patients of All Ages

MONTCLAIR, NJ, July 17, 2017 – The Preston Young Cancers Awareness – I AM YOU, Inc.
(PYCA) organization announced the launch of its website, www.thepyca.org, making its broad
range of supportive services accessible for cancer patients of all ages and stages of diagnosis
and treatment.

“I hope people view the PYCA website as a door to a loving, supportive community, with experts
and volunteers eager to help improve and enrich patients’ lives as they face cancer treatment,”
said Cheryl K. Young, the organization’s Founder and President and a three-time cancer
survivor.

Among the services offered are discounted haircuts at one of Essex County’s leading hair
salons, as well as free styling and wigs for individuals undergoing hair loss through
chemotherapy. In addition, vendors are gladly offering free bras for women with breast cancer,
discounts on eyelash replacements and extensions, free makeovers and makeup kits, nutritional
counseling, personalized financial assistance and consulting, community education, and
individual sessions on the importance of and completing medical advanced directives.

Young along with Silverberg-Urian, Co-founder and Director of Program Development, launched
PYCA on June 30, 2017 to help pay forward the assistance Young received when she was
diagnosed with and treated for lung and breast cancer over the past 12 years. “I am so grateful
for the angels who gave me back my dignity during treatment,” she said. “I could barely think
about how to eat well or even when to pay the bills when I felt ravaged and exhausted by the
illness and the chemotherapy. Now that I feel healthy, I want to help others who are walking on
the path. Through our website we know that PYCA can spread its message far and wide: if you
need support, we are here for you.” For Silverberg-Urian who is a Registered Nurse certified in
Hospice and Palliative Care, “It is important to address the health disparities that exist in
communities of color by providing much needed resources and education particularly around
the importance of Advanced Care Planning.”
