Outpost in the Burbs Announces Acoustic Music Series Fall Season
Iain Matthews, Jimmy Webb and Richie Furay top another season of performers at volunteer-run concert series.

Montclair's long-running Outpost in the Burbs acoustic-music concert series announced its 2013 fall lineup Friday. Among the special offerings coming is a benefit concert for the music- and community service-minded nonprofit group featuring legendary singer-songwriter and Songwriters Hall of Fame chair Jimmy Webb on Oct. 18.
Most of the volunteer-run series performances take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 67 Church Street.
The season launches Friday, Sept.6 with an entry in the Outpost Café performances. Topping the bill is the singular Iain Matthews, who shone in the British bands Fairport Convention, Plainsong and Matthews' Southern Comfort. Opening the night will be Jersey-born acoustic duo The Lords of Liechtenstein. This show will one in the Outpost, located in the church's intimate Fletcher Hall, where you're allowed to bring along a bottle of wine for the concert.

Sept. 26 (Thursday): Richie Furay Band; special guest Lera Lynn
Oct. 4: Winterpills; special guest Pete Donnelly & the Wise Easy
Oct. 18: Outpost Benefit Concert: Jimmy Webb; special guest Kenny White
Nov. 1: The Grand Slambovians (formerly Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams); special guests the Twangtown Paramours
Nov. 15th: Lauren Fox sings Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen
Dec. 6: Joseph Arthur; special guest TBA
All shows begin at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:30 and take place at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. The exception is Sept. 26 Richie Furay Band show, which will be in the large sanctuary at the First Congregational Church, 40 South Fullerton Ave.
