PHOTOS: Fire Engulfs Montclair Apartment Building

The Saturday night blaze tore through four floors before firefighters got it under control.

A three-alarm fire at a Claremont Avenue apartment building caused extensive damage but no reported injuries on Saturday night.

Several firefighting agencies were seen at the scene of the blaze, which took place around 6:30 p.m.

It took firefighters about 90 minutes to get the flames under control.

TAP Into Montclair reported that animal control officers managed to save multiple pets from the building, but that several residents – including a Grammy-nominated classical pianist and a local flautist – lost prized possessions.
