Fairfield-based Pomptonian Food Service - which provides food to Cedar Grove and Verona schools among other districts in New Jersey – notified affected schools that the recall may have affected many of the chicken products provided to the schools they serve, TAP Into reported.

While Cedar Grove schools may have been affected, the Verona school district does not serve any of the recalled products, TAP Into stated.

“Pomptonian’s food service director swiftly notified our district and made menu changes to eliminate the affected product,” an email from the Cedar Grove School District stated.

Pomptonian Food Service posted notice about the recall effort on its website.

A recall effort from the Texas-based Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. was initiated because plastic, wood, rubber, and metal was found in the chicken products, according to a news release from the FSIS.

Pilgrim’s Pride Corp, on April 7, initially recalled approximately 40,780 pounds of fully cooked chicken nuggets produced on Oct. 5, 2015.
