Police Arrest Montclair Woman's Suspected Murderer

An FBI Fugitive Task Force arrested the 26-year-old East Orange woman in California for the murder of Crystal Williams.

Authorities have arrested an Essex County woman suspected to be the murderer of Crystal Williams, a 33-year-old Montclair resident reported missing and found dead in Newark.

On Friday afternoon, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced that on Thursday, an FBI Fugitive Task Force apprehended Shanita Stubbs, 26, of East Orange, in Sacramento, California.

Officials in California are preparing to have her extradited to New Jersey, the ECPO stated.

Prosecutors charged Stubbs with Williams’ murder on Aug. 14.

The final cause and manner of death are pending, but the preliminary indication is Williams died from blunt force trauma and possible suffocation, the ECPO stated.

Williams was reported missing on July 10; her badly decomposed body was discovered in Newark on July 25.
