Political Signs In Montclair: Here Are The Rules, Code Officials Say
Montclair officials issued a reminder about the rules for displaying political signs as the 2022 election nears the finish line.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair officials recently issued a reminder about the rules for displaying political signs as the 2022 general election nears the finish line.
Looking to settle a debate about the local ordinance for political signs? Check out Township Code § 347-109.3E, according to Montclair code enforcement officials.

- Such signs shall be affixed to a principal building on the property or set back at least 10 feet from all property lines and shall not be higher than six feet from the ground at its highest point
- Political signs shall not exceed four square feet in area
- No political sign shall be erected or displayed on public property, including public rights-of-way and the area extending from the street line or nub to a public sidewalk
- Political signs shall not be artificially illuminated
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. In Montclair, voters will get to cast ballots for the local board of education, a school bond referendum, and candidates for county and Congressional seats. Read More: Montclair Voter Guide For 2022 Election
