Preparations are well underway for the return of the Montclair July 4th celebrations. The parade, dedicated to the memory of the late Al Pelham, will feature marching bands, floats, public officials, and our Grand Marshals: Toni’s Kitchen and the Human Needs Food Pantry. Community groups, businesses and organizations are invited to march in the parade to show their community spirit and pride. In addition, the parade organizers are seeking donations and sponsors to help fund the cost of the festivities. A fundraising event will take place on June 9, at Just Jakes on Park Street from 5 to 8 p.m.

Parade participants are the heart and soul of the event. Senior citizens, soccer kids, PTA parents, local businesses, marching bands, antique cars, veterans, bubble dancers and pranksters with squirt guns will all wind their way through the streets of the Township. Their expressions of creativity will meet the enthusiastic cheers of their neighbors and friends. It sums up the exactly what Montclair aspires to be: diverse and inclusive. Everyone's welcome. The parade committee invites community groups, businesses, and organizations to join us on this festive occasion to march and participate.

The Montclair Celebrates July 4th Committee is also asking for the community's help to keep this decades-long tradition alive. Our premier sponsors, including BDP Holdings, LLC, Investor’s Bank, Mountainside Hospital, Clara Maass Medical Center, the Montclair Book Center, have demonstrated their generosity and deep commitment to the Montclair community. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for business and individuals who would like to contribute to the region’s largest July 4th celebration. As in year’s past, thousands of spectators are expected to attend the parade and every donation helps us make Montclair's festivities the most memorable event of the summer season.

The parade committee will host a fundraising event on June 9, at Just Jakes on Park Street from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to formally introduce this year’s Grand Marshals: Toni’s Kitchen and the Human Needs Food Pantry. In addition to our Grand Marshals, this year’s parade is dedicated in honor of Al Pelham, a long-time supporter and friend of the July 4th celebrations. The Montclair community is invited to the fundraiser to celebrate the return of this beloved Montclair tradition.
