Raise Your Glass High for the Fourth of July!
Egan and Sons Irish restaurant and pub will host a bash to help pay for the annual Fourth of July parade
Egan’s Pub on Walnut Street is the venue for tomorrow night’s fundraiser in honor of Montclair’s Fourth of July parade. Owners Sharon and Chris Egan are hosting the event to raise money for the beloved annual tradition.
Without community support, the Fourth of July parade could have been eliminated -- a casualty of the township’s 2010-11 budget cuts.
“I have a real big thing with the parade,” said Sharon Egan enthusiastically. “I even bought my house because it’s on the parade route. I’m a townie. I don’t think I’ve ever missed a parade.”

The Egans plan to donate 10% of the evening’s profits to the township to help pay for the parade. Festivities will take place from 6-10 pm and will feature a 50/50, raffle and giveaways.
“It will probably go much later than that,” admits Egan with a laugh. “There will be “celebrity bartenders” and some local characters. All their tips will be donated to the parade.” Also on hand will be the New Jersey Jackals mascot and “Spiderman” himself, who plans to arrive in a convertible Cadillac.

One of the raffle items Egan says she’s particularly excited about is a ladies’ pink Italian vintage touring bike from the 1970s.
“Mint! It’s on display in the brewery area. Anyone who’s into collectibles will want to see that bike.”
Other items to be raffled off include jewelry, another bike, t-shirts and assorted surprises. There will also be lots of giveaways.
“There will be a bunch of people meeting at Edgemont Park to ride over here. Right along the parade route,” Egan says. “It’s sad that we have to do this. But it would be more sad if the parade didn’t happen at all.”
