Rep. Sherrill Holds Town Hall At Montclair State University: Watch

NEW JERSEY — U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill held a town hall event at Montclair State University on Wednesday, speaking to constituents about issues such as the economy, the Inflation Reduction Act, health care and the environment.

During the town hall, Sherrill answered questions from several people in the audience (watch the video below).

In addition, Major Joseph Brennan of the New Jersey State Police joined the congresswoman to address concerns she has heard from the community about the rise of car thefts and provide tips to keep people and property safe. MSU Economics Professor Luis Portes also joined to discuss the state of our economy and the impact of recent legislation. MSU President Jonathan Koppell and Little Falls Mayor James Damiano also made introductory remarks at the town hall. Montclair High School Senior Ella Freund sang the National Anthem.

"Hearing from people across NJ-11 is critical to my job as a congresswoman,” Sherrill said. “The wide array of ideas and feedback that my constituents share with me at my town halls and other public forums inform the solutions that I fight for in Washington D.C., like passing full funding for the Gateway Project, managing inland flooding, and addressing the high cost of living in the Garden State."

Sherrill, a Democratic Party member who is up for re-election in November against Republican challenger Paul DeGroot, represents New Jersey’s 11th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district – which recently added and lost some towns due to redistricting – includes the following municipalities:

Essex County - Belleville, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Livingston, Maplewood, Millburn, Montclair (part), North Caldwell, Nutley, Roseland, South Orange and West Caldwell

Morris County - Boonton, Boonton Township, Butler, Chatham, Chatham Township, Denville, Dover, East Hanover, Florham Park, Hanover, Harding, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Madison, Mendham Twp (part), Montville, Morris Plains, Morris Township, Morristown Town, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Pequannock, Randolph, Riverdale, Rockaway, Rockaway Township and Victory Gardens

Passaic County - Little Falls, Totowa, Wayne (part) and Woodland Park
