Rideshare Passenger Pepper Sprays Driver In Montclair: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A rideshare driver told Montclair police that she was pepper sprayed by a passenger last week.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the aggravated assault took place on Nov. 29 as the driver was transporting her passenger home.

While on the road, the passenger began releasing pepper spray inside of the vehicle. When the driver pulled over to the side of the road on Washington Avenue, the passenger sprayed her in the face, police said.

The passenger then got out of the car and fled the scene, authorities said.

Montclair EMS workers evaluated the driver, but she declined further medical attention, police said.
