Road Paving Work Begins In Montclair; Here’s The Traffic Impact

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Essex County crews have kicked off paving and milling work on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. The project is expected to be completed on Friday, Aug. 26, town officials said.

Milling began on Monday evening on Bloomfield Avenue, starting at the intersection with Walden Place. According to a municipal advisory:

• Milling and Paving is anticipated to comprise a three-day cycle for the entire length of the project on Bloomfield Avenue (approximately one mile).
• Milling is anticipated to take two nights followed by one anticipated night of paving.

Traffic signals at the intersection of North Fullerton, South Fullerton, Church Street, and Glenridge avenues will be activated on Monday, Aug. 22. Once activated, the one-way traffic flow direction of Glenridge Avenue will be reversed (right turn only from Bloomfield Avenue heading eastbound towards Forest Street).

Montclair officials said existing signage on Glenridge Avenue will be flipped by Department of Community Services personnel that day as necessary, and will include the installation of:

• Two new DO NOT ENTER signs on Glenridge Avenue at the intersection with Forest Street
• One NO RIGHT TURN sign on the southbound side of Forest Street at the intersection with Glenridge Avenue
