Van Vleck House and Gardens is bringing back its free "Scarecrows and Pumpkin Friends in the Gardens" event for the 2024 Halloween season.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Van Vleck House and Gardens is bringing back its free “Scarecrows and Pumpkin Friends in the Gardens” event for the 2024 Halloween season.
According to a news release from The Montclair Foundation/Van Vleck House and Gardens, this year’s event kicked off Oct. 19 and will run through Nov. 2. It takes place at Van Vleck House and Gardens, 21 Van Vleck Street in Montclair. Learn more here.
Visitors can catch a glimpse of an exhibit of handcrafted scarecrows and pumpkins created by local Scout troops, nonprofits, businesses, families, classes and schools.

Organizers wrote:
“Our current exhibit contains many creative, silly, heartwarming, and artistic creations sure to entertain and beguile visitors young and old. Come to admire the creativity and handiwork of your community and support your neighbors in need, all while relishing in the beauty of the Fall season in the historic Van Vleck Gardens! During your visit, you will vote in real-time online for the best submission in each category, and the resulting winners will receive $500 each to donate to the nonprofit of their choice.”
