School of Rock Montclair Summer Season Programs to Feature Tributes to Reggae Sunsplash, Ozzfest, and Bonnaroo

School of Rock Montclair will hold rehearsals for its summer season Performance Program shows through June, July, and August. The shows will be presented at Just Jake’s and the Old Mogul Theatre, both in Montclair, in September.

“Our Performance Program concerts are the culmination of the School of Rock experience for our year-round students, as well as examples of the amazing results that are possible with our unique performance-based music education approach,” says School of Rock Montclair General Manager Kevin March. “Along with having weekly one-one-one lessons with our teaching staff of pro musicians, our students also develop their teamwork skills, stage presence, and musicianship by preparing for the two-hour Performance Program shows, which honor noteworthy artists, important musical genres, and seminal concert events.”

School of Rock Montclair’s Performance Program shows for summer ‘16 include tributes to the following music festivals:

“OZZFEST” - featuring student performances of hits by Black Sabbath, Slipknot, System of a Down, and many more

• Open to School of Rock students of all skill levels
• Directed by James Stivaly and Maurice Watson
• Rehearsal schedule: Tuesdays from 5:30-8:30pm (June 7 through September 20)
• Concert dates: Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 25

“REGGAE SUNSPLASH” - featuring student performances of hits by Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Yellowman, The Skatalites, and many more

• Open to School of Rock students of all skill levels
• Directed by Joe Billy and Billy Smolen
• Rehearsal schedule: Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30pm (June 8 through September 21)
• Concert dates: Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 25

“BONNAROO” - featuring student performances of hits by Pearl Jam, Ween, Death Cab for Cutie, Tame Impala, Dead & Company, and many more

• Open to School of Rock students of all skill levels
• Directed by Tom Nadolski and Phil Silverberg
• Rehearsal schedule: Thursdays from 6:00-9:00pm (June 9 through September 22)
• Concert dates: Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 25

“We purposely scheduled our summer season rehearsals to happen in the middle of the week so that students who are going away for the weekend won’t have their family vacation plans disrupted,” says March. “By the time their school years begin again in September, these students will be ready to rock the stage with the new skills, new friends, and new repertoires that they developed with us during June, July, and August!”
