Several Cars Stolen In Montclair, Some With Keys Inside: Police
One victim left his car running while he retrieved a DoorDash order. Two others say they mistakenly left their keys inside, police stated.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several vehicle thefts were reported in Montclair last week, authorities say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents recently took place in the township:
- Aug. 3 (Lackawanna Plaza) – “The victim reported that his 2021 Honda Civic was stolen from in front of Popeye’s. He reported the vehicle was left running as he ran inside to retrieve a DoorDash order.”
- Aug. 5 (Montclair Avenue) – “The resident reported that his 2020 Audi A7 was stolen from the driveway during the overnight hours.”
- Aug. 7 (Overlook Road) – “The complainant stated that his 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from his driveway overnight. He believes he may have mistakenly left a spare set of keys inside the vehicle.”
- Aug. 8 (Porter Place) – “The victim reported that a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander was stolen from his driveway overnight. He believes he mistakenly left the keys inside of the car.”
