Snowstorm Update: Bus Lines Suspend Service From NJ To NYC

Several bus lines have suspended service from New Jersey to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City on Saturday.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several bus lines have suspended service from New Jersey to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City on Saturday ahead of a winter snowstorm, officials said.

Weather forecasters are warning New Jersey residents about an ugly snowstorm expected to hit this weekend. Up to 18 inches of snow is predicted for some parts of the state; it's expected to arrive Friday evening into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

DeCamp Bus Lines, which is based in Montclair, is among the carriers that have suspended all service at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Saturday. "Due to the impending snowstorm, commuter and casino services are suspended for Jan. 29," the company tweeted. "Regularly scheduled service will resume on Sunday, Jan. 30."

Other carriers that suspended all service at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Saturday include Greyhound, Trailways, Peter Pan, ShortLine (Coach USA), Martz, Trans-Bridge, Fullington Trailways and C&J Bus Lines.

Suburban Coach will suspend service to and from New York on Friday evening following the 8 p.m. departure from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

In addition, all Suburban Coach 100 Line service for Saturday is suspended, according to alerts from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

NJ Transit initially said it planned to run a normal bus service schedule to the Port Authority Bus Terminal this weekend. But the agency pulled back on those tentative plans, announcing that it will temporarily suspend bus service at the start of the day on Saturday.
