Just consider this... Joel Benjamin became the youngest-ever U.S. chess master at age 13, a record previously held by Bobby Fischer. He's won national titles at every scholastic level, including the U.S. Junior Championship.

Now, an author of chess books, a U.S. Chess Hall of Fame inductee, and winner of three U.S. Championships, he's played in six Olympiads, as well as on many medal winning teams, including the 1993 and 1997 World Team (gold and silver, respectively), and the 1990 and 1996 Olympiad (silver and bronze, respectively). Most recently winning the gold as a member of 2018 World Senior Team Champions. Benjamin has won individual gold as part of the World Youth Team, the World Team, and the World Senior Team.

A resident of New Jersey, GM Benjamin offers private lessons and coaches the Columbia Grammar chess team, as well as creating videos for the Internet Chess Club. 17-year-old grandmaster John Michael Burke and 15-year-old International master Brandon Jacobson are among is his most notable students.
