Spring Sports Season Begins: Montclair, MKA to Take on the Best of Essex
Mounties, Cougars ready to hit the fields, diamonds
The Montclair and Montclair Kimberley Academy sports teams were ready to battle the best of Essex County in the Super Essex Conference beginning April 1—the first official day of spring sports.
The biggest sports are both baseball and softball, but lacrosse continues to gain popularity in Montclair and the boys and girls teams for both schools are ready to go up against some of the better lacrosse teams in North Jersey.
Montclair's boys lacrosse program looks to continue last season's success after winning the Group 4 title and making the semi-finals of the State Tournament of Champions.

Montclair's baseball and softball teams look to go further in the state tournament. The Mounties baseball team was a game away from the Group 4 North 1 state finals last season while MKA's baseball team hopes to rebound from a first round ouster in the state playoffs.
Both the Montclair and MKA softball teams ended last season on high notes as they both made it to state sectional finals. The Lady Mounties softball team made it to the Group 4 North 1 state final before dropping to Morris Knolls while the Lady Cougars fell to Immaculate Conception in the Non-Public North B sectional final. Both teams benefitted from the tough SEC schedule in the state playoffs.

Montclair Kimberley's girls lacrosse looks to build off of making the state tournament last season while the Lady Mounties would like to get back to the state tournament.
While the Mounties boys lacrosse excelled last season, the Cougars would like to go further in the state tournament after making the Non-Public B quarterfinals.
In tennis Montclair Kimberley's boys made it to the Non-Public North B semi-finals while the Montclair boys reached the quarterfinals of the Group 4 North 1 section.
