State Denies Montclair Charter School’s Application
New Jersey state officials have denied the application for the proposed Montclair Charter School, according to district administrators.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — New Jersey state officials have denied the application for the proposed Montclair Charter School, according to district administrators.
On Friday, Montclair Superintendent Ronald Bolandi released a letter from the NJ Department of Education to Darryle Bogan, lead founder at the proposed Montclair Charter School, which states that the school’s application was denied “based on deficiencies identified during the process.”
The letter from Acting Commissioner Kimberly Harrington reads:

“Your application for the proposed Montclair Charter School has undergone a comprehensive review by a team of New Jersey Department of Education personnel as well as a qualified external reviewer. Based on recommendations and my review, I am denying your request.”
The decision can be appealed to the state Superior Court, the letter states.

The proposed French immersion charter school – formerly called the Fulbright Academy Charter School of Montclair – has faced heavy opposition from community leaders ever since it filed its application earlier this year.
