MONTCLAIR, NJ — New Jersey state prosecutors are seeking pay records, time sheets and attendance logs for all of Montclair’s town council members dating back to 2011, although the reason is currently unclear, a report says.

On Friday, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office issued a subpoena to Montclair Township requesting the records, which are due by Jan. 13. It doesn’t state a reason for the demand, but the subpoena comes just a few months after the township’s chief financial officer launched a lawsuit which referenced her concerns that local elected officials were improperly receiving state health benefits, Montclair Local reported.
