Stolen Car And Pellet Gun: Two Juvenile Arrests On Bloomfield Avenue

Police arrested a 16-year-old who allegedly stole a car and led cops on a chase, and an 18-year-old with a pellet gun and codeine syrup.

Glen Ridge police arrested a 16-year-old East Orange male on Aug. 25 after he led officers on an early-morning car chase down Bloomfield Avenue.

The teen was eluding police in a vehicle reported stolen out of Montclair when he lost control and crashed on Bloomfield Avenue around 7 a.m., Glen Ridge police reported.

After crashing, the teen fled the scene and was later located and apprehended in The Glen.

He was turned over to the Montclair Police Department, which charged him with resisting arrest.

On Aug. 24, Glen Ridge police responded to Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a suspicious teen with a handgun.

According to police, an officer observed three males walking on Bloomfield Avenue that fit the caller’s description.

After stopping the males, the officer found a pellet handgun and a “large amount of cough medicine with codeine” in their possession.

Police arrested one of the males – an 18-year-old Montclair resident – and charged him with possession of a weapon and possession of CDS.

He was transported to headquarters for processing and turned over to the Essex County Jail in Newark.
