Stranger Shines Light Into Sleeping Montclair Woman's Home: Police

A woman was sleeping when someone shone a light into her family room. Here's what happened next, police say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair resident had a suspicious encounter with someone who shone a light into her home last week, authorities said Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the incident, which took place April 28 on Inwood Terrace:

“The resident reported that she was asleep on her sofa at approximately 3:15 a.m. She woke up to a tall figure in her kitchen shining a cellphone light into the family room. She stated ‘Hello?’ approximately five times, but received no response. She checked the area and did not find anything out of place, so she went back to bed thinking it could have been one of her children. Later in the morning, she asked her family – and all stated that they had not been downstairs during the night.”
