Curator Sarah Canfield says “all the pieces offer a record of moments within time. Through an imagined narrative, the slice in time is transcended and the artists invite us to reflect on what has or will occur.”

From abstract mark making to the representation of a body in action, the exhibition depicts movement in a variety of styles and media. Viewers have the opportunity to explore the diverse ways that motion—the passage of time—can be portrayed through art and experience a sense of time, either swift or seeming to slowly float. Some works, Canfield notes, also invite viewers to discern emotional transformation depicted through the symbolism of the paintings and drawings on display.
