For better or for worse, my kids are being raised in a house dedicated to stocking brand-new hardcover copies of books destined to be read only once or twice by a reader as excited by the physical book as the story itself.
While I personally am super excited to see classrooms shift to e-readers and what not, I like to lace my kids with my own nostalgic tendencies so they know to be thankful the next time they don’t have to laboriously turn sticky pages on a hot day in Spanish class. Who am I kidding? I just love books!
As I mentioned, last week was a week for goals, and number two on on the list was to visit the Bellevue Avenue Library for what some may call a history lesson, but what I like to refer to landmark preservation.

I can’t say whether or not S & A will keep this habit, but since we went last week, we’ve maintained our summer goal of reading Island of the Blue Dolphin together before bed every night.
