‘Summer Of Soccer’ At Lackawanna Station In Montclair Taps Into World Cup Fever

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Lackawanna Station in Montclair will channel its inner FIFA World Cup spirit with the launch of its “Summer of Soccer.”
The monthlong public event series will take place from June 11 to July 19. Located at Lackawanna Station in Montclair, the site will transform into a “fully immersive soccer hub” with free programming, live match broadcasts, cultural events and interactive community activities throughout the tournament period. Broadcasts – “Throughout the tournament, Lackawanna Station will broadcast almost every match, from group stage play through the finals, creating a dynamic, festival-style environment designed for fans of all ages. The site will feature family-friendly events, curated food and beverage offerings from resident restaurants, local vendors, and sponsor activations.”
Culture – “In addition to live match broadcasts, Summer of Soccer will feature a robust slate of daily programming that connects sport to broader cultural and social themes. Through partnerships with athletes, coaches, sports journalists, artists, nonprofits, and community leaders, the series will explore how soccer intersects with migration, identity, creativity, health, and community belonging. Programming will include panel discussions, speaker events, wellness sessions, coaching clinics, advocacy programming, and global food and dance festivals—each designed to deepen engagement and highlight the cultural power of the global game.”

Food and Dance – “The International Food & Dance Festival was selected as a recipient of an NJ World Cup Community Initiative Grant—sponsored by Choose New Jersey and the NJ EDA. Held July 12, 2026, at the conclusion of the quarterfinal stage, this full-day festival celebrates the global cultures that shape—and are shaped by—the game of soccer. The event will feature an expansive lineup of international food vendors, cultural organizations, and dance ensembles representing diverse traditions from around the world. Live performances, music, and interactive workshops will take place throughout the day, encouraging participation and cultural exchange. The festival emphasizes Montclair’s diversity while connecting local audiences to the global spirit of the tournament.”
