Teach Children about Upycling at Sewing Workshop and Recycled Fashion Show
Kids Will Have Fun at Creative, Hands-on Workshop and Learn Environmental Lessons about Recycling Clothing

The Montclair Public Library will host a children’s hands-on sewing workshop and recycled fashion show using clothing donated by local area thrift shops to highlight the environmental importance of recycling clothing. After creating their own upcycled fashions, kids will model them in a fashion show. The event will take place Thursday, April 7 at 11a.m. -12:30p.m. at the Montclair Public Library at 50 South Fullerton Ave. in Montclair.
Organizer Maria Luna visited several local thrift shops to collect used t-shirts and other clothing that children will upcycle into new creations using sewing machines provided. Gwen, a volunteer at the St. Luke’s Second Time Around Shop on South Fullerton Ave. says, “This is exactly why we volunteer at the shop, to give clothing a second life and keep it out of landfills.”
No registration required. All are welcome, but space is limited and preference will be given to Montclair Library Cardholders. Please bring your card.
